Monthly Review | February 2025

Hello Friends!

I can't believe February has already come to an end.

It's been one month since I accepted a new position, working at a marketing firm. It's crazy how time flies, especially when I was just getting accustomed to my new routine of working on my publishing business as well as having time to do things that I loved like reading and walking.

That said, I officially started on February 10th. I remember I was feeling nervous, but everyone was super friendly and it was a different environment than what I was used to—it was loud, open spaced, and casual. That said, getting back into the labor market was not easy. For instance, I was back to feeling like a zombie being exhausted all the time as the job requires a 1 hour commute from early mornings to arriving home late at nights. Not to mention, training has been brutal, as there are a lot of processes and systems to remember. Nevertheless, I have been learning tons of new things related to marketing such as SEO, PPC, Re-targeting, and many more.

One of my goals heading into this new job was to make new friends, but honestly, I have been struggling. Growing up, I have never been the social type, and in fact, I tend to get anxious when I am around others. That being said, I did take the initiative to sit with my co-workers during lunchtime in the cafeteria—it is awkward though since we are all usually on our phones and I am not really into pop culture like some of my co-workers. That being said, one time, during lunch, a co-worker who was a little older than me began talking—we spoke about my publishing business and how she was also interested in getting started as well. I was nice to have someone who understood what my business was about.

Other than my employment struggles, February was definitely the month of snow storms. Being in Canada, this month, we had back-to-back snow storms causing me to be almost late for work on multiple occasions as it was more difficult to catch buses on time, walking over huge snow piles and being extra careful due to ice. However, the last couple of days the evenings have been getting quite longer, as I was able to catch the sunset while heading home, in which I am excited for spring to come.

Reflecting on this month, overall, I would say I have been feeling anxious as work has been overwhelming and being anti-social has been a challenging time since I struggled with meeting new people as I often have a fear in being judged for the things I liked. That being said, I have recently started a new book called The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins which has helped in some ways.

And lastly, one exciting thing that has happened this month is investing in myself. As I have mentioned, my mantra for 2025 is to have my own successful business. So? I decided to take a leap of faith and join a mentorship program in assisting me in improving my current publishing business. I am excited for this adventure and hopefully through mentorship I am able to improve and push my business in the right direction. Although, there were times where I had doubts, but it's important to remember that entrepreneurship is a challenging journey and it is important to remember your why. Why am I doing this? Why do I want a successful business? Reminding myself, it is all because I want my freedom back. Time to do things that I love again like learning how to play the piano and compose music. So? if you are having doubts, feeling demotivated, always remind yourself your why.

That being said, I can't believe Q1 is almost coming to an end. Although that is the case, I am looking forward to March and to see what adventures are coming my way. My goal for the month is to release my book as I have failed to release it this month due to getting used to my new employment as well as developing a new launch strategy with my mentor. My second goal is to also begin brainstorming and writing a new book.

With that said, let's end Q1 with a bang and achieve our goals!
