Life Updates | Going to the Hospital, Surprises, Wedding festivities! | April - July 2025

It's been exactly 9 months since I started my new job.

5 months since my sister got married,

And 6 months since a loved one has passed away.

So much has happened since then.

April::
  • Work was like a rollercoaster. There were many ups and downs. One moment I felt like I was doing a good job and the next I was a horrible employee failing at everything that I do - for example, I was still stumbling over my words while I was talking on the phone. During one of my meetings with my manager, it was also implied that I was not the person who they thought I was - well, that destroyed my confidence. Not to mention, I was still having a difficult time opening myself up to my team mates. Because of this, most of my team mates think I'm weird, and have grown fond of another new co worker that I have started with.
  • The snowstorms here in Canada have picked up ☃. I don't know if I should be happy or not. For one, I was excited when we got to leave work early at 4pm, but I wasn't thrilled about the idea of having to take the public transportation home through the cold, windy and snowy weather. Sounded like a disaster to me. I still got home at my regular time - 6:40pm.
  • Fun fact: I tried Guava for the first time. It wasn't too sweet, but I was worried about swallowing the seeds 😅. Overall, it wasn't anything too special.
  • At the end of 2024, I discovered manifestation and the law of attraction. Manifesting wealth has always been one of my desires. That said, I was surprised when MNP had suddenly called me - they were curious if I was still searching for new job opportunities. In the end, I declined the offer since accounting was no longer the path I wanted to take.
  • My brother finally came home from Japan!
  • Wedding planning for my sister was beginning to feel more real. I was still in disbelief that she was getting married. It seemed like it was only yesterday when we were just kids sleeping in the same bedroom, sharing stories and laughs. That said, as a part of a tradition, my parents planned a family engagement dinner on May 4th. I was also surprised that my dad's older sister will be traveling to Canada to attend the wedding; I was ecstatic since I had never met her in person before.
  • It was the end of April, the snow melted away with the breeze flowing through my hair. Spring was always my favorite season. However, this spring was different. A storm was approaching. And before I knew it, the storm was here. When I arrived home from work, there was a large fire truck in front of my grandma's house, along with an ambulance. Since then, our life has turned upside down.
May:
  •  It's been a couple of days since my grandma was admitted to the hospital. On some days, there was hope and the next we were told to prepare for the worse.
  • It's mother's day! We visited my grandma and gifted her a butterfly plush. I gifted my mother a new water bottle since her old one was beginning to rust. As my sister's wedding is one month away, my parents also visited my sister's wedding venue which was located in Oakville.
  • This month marks the three months since I began my new job. I am still in disbelief that I have lasted for this long. Nevertheless, I am very proud of myself for making it this far. ✨
  • It's my birthday! Didn't do anything special today as it was a weekday, but I was super grateful and excited to have dinner with my family - we had a plate of sushi.
  •  On May 17th, my grandma passed away at 10:17am.
  • As May is coming to an end, we held a funeral for my grandma. This was the last time I got to see my aunts, uncles and cousins.
June:
  • Went to Karaoke at Take One Studio for the first time!  A lot of classic old school songs were played like September by Earth, Wind and Fire.
  • My dad's older sister arrived to Canada - on the first day we went out and had a family dinner at Woodside Square. We had pecking duck, fried rice, spicy radish, beef and red bean soup. Overall, the meal was satisfying 🤤
  • My sister's wedding is finally approaching. On the day before the wedding, my family and I had DimSum for lunch at Woodside Square - we had lobster noodles, shrimp dumplings, etc. Later that day, we all had one last dinner with my sister as a family before she left the nest. After dinner, we all headed to Oakville. The journey there was peaceful - it was filled with music, and I was grateful to see the beautiful sunset. When we arrived to Holiday Inn, we were surrounded by my brother in law's family. We greeted a couple of people and didn't head to bed until it was past midnight. It was my sister's big day! We woke up at 3:30am to get our hair and makeup done. We arrived to the wedding hall and took family photos with the bride. We started off the wedding festivities with a traditional tea ceremony - I was starting to get emotional as realization hits me that my sister is getting married. Once the ceremony was over, we prepared for the Indian ceremony portion of the wedding - my brother and I went to greet the guests at the entrance. It was cool to see family and friends dancing their way to the entrance. When the Indian ceremony started, I was watching my brother and my parents from the stage as they performed their duties. Once the ceremony ended, we took one big family photo and we all went for lunch and had a bit of a downtime before the wedding reception. After taking a power nap, my siblings and I went to a garden in Oakville to take some photos with the bride and groom. Once the pictures were done we headed back to the wedding hall and it was time for the last event of the day - the bride and groom danced their first dance, speeches, and then the rest of the night it was a dance party!
  • Niagara Falls
After my sister's wedding, we headed towards Niagra Falls to our in-law's houses to perform another small ceremony. Once that was done, we took our aunt to see the falls, the Hershey store, and had some dinner at a restaurant.
  • It was only one week left until my aunt had to go back to HK. During the week, we took her to visit the Ripley's Aquarium (my favorite part was the jellyfishes and petting the stingrays), CN Tower, Harbour Front, and had dinner at Haidilao. On the last day, we had one last lunch as a family and drove her to the airport.

July:
  • It's Canada Day! 🍁 Spent the day with my sister and watched the Lilo and Sitch live action movie. Overall, the movie exceeded my expectations. The actor and actress did a great job in portraying the characters of the original movie. After the movies, my sister and I grabbed a bite at McDonalds - we grabbed the limited edition hamburger from Germany (filled with hash brown, cheese and bacon) as well as the Biscotti Mcflurry.
  • As the season is changing, I was starting to catch a small cold. Luckily only my nose was affected and I was able to overcome it within the first two days.
  • Big Rosti
Super excited to receive one of Lego's newest botanical collections - tiny plants. 🪴
  • Big Brother 27 was soon approaching and I was super excited about the cast reveal. Participated in the draft: Morgan, Keanu and Vince - by now the winner of BB27 has been announced which was Ashley!
  • Started getting back on track with my publishing business and drafted my fourth book.
  • Summer is getting hot - I tried the Coffee Crisp and the Kitkat popsicles for the first time. They were on sale at my local grocery store - overall, I liked the coffee crisp flavor since it reminded me of Hagen Daas but it was coffee crisp flavor (my favorite chocolate bar).
  • July 22nd - Black Pink concert! I went with my sister and her friend. We arrived to the Roger's stadium early. As we arrived, we strolled around and grabbed some poutine. Overall, the concert was fun especially watching everyone's solo - Rosie's APT song was my favorite part of the night. As the concert was coming to an end, we stopped by the merchandise shop and grabbed some t-shirts - we got home by 1am.
  • Got my first Popmart blind box from the Peach Riot Punk fairy series! Nyota seasons is my next favorite series.
  • Super excited to visit Google's HQ for the first time! Got to listen to the upcoming releases/projects from Google.
