Product Review | Keepplay Pochacco Brick Set

  • I picked up this set at Asian Food Mart (2150 McNicoll Avenue Scarborough, ON M1V 0G5) located near McNicoll and Steeles. The set was on sale for $7.99. My favorite Sanrio characters are Pochacco and Chococat, and the store only had two options to choose from, which were Pochacco and Pompompurrin. Hence, Pochacco was the chosen one.
  • In this set, the box comes with an instruction booklet and 3 packets filled with building bricks.
  • Although the bricks are not Lego, the pieces themselves were high quality. The pieces were nicely sized making it easy to assemble together, and if you made a mistake, you could simply remove them with ease.
  • While building the set, I thought the structure of the inner body could be better—I noticed every time when I was adding bricks on top of the central base of the figure the parts could dissemble easily so I was on a mission to be careful or else I had to restart from square one; it was a little frustrating at times. In addition, when I assembled the set, I noticed a few pieces were dirty, which was probably related to production issues. Lastly, because the figure is meant to be sitting down, the end result is stable.
  • The instructions in the booklet (there are 25 pages in total) were clear and concise to follow along. There were 1-2 steps that were confusing to me, however, the illustrations within the booklet were large enough for me to continue without any problems.
  • After assembling the pieces together, I thought it looked exactly like the picture on the box. There were two extra pieces that were leftover in case you dropped or lost a piece.
  • Overall, the set was quick and easy to build. It took approximately 30 - 45mins to complete and Pochacco now lives on my work desk, chilling with my fake Lego plants. That said, this set is perfect for beginners and anyone who is a Sanrio fan who loves Lego.
